I expect that next time it will be excellent.Description: Join us at 434 North Loop 1604 West in San Antonio for a fine dining experience you’re sure to enjoy. I couldn't give it a perfect rating but I will definitely be back again. The gritty oyster, onions left on the wedge when we had specifically asked for them to be left off, and slightly slow on the drink order in the beginning. There were a couple of missteps, not the server's fault. It was a lovely evening and I would normally give it an Excellent rating. I often find myself wanting to try more things at a restaurant than I could possibly eat and the option of a "compliment" is great solution to the problem. Silo's also has interesting side dishes accurately called "Compliments." So if you want to have the lamb special but are keen on the scallops, you can add two scallops, or grilled shrimp or ever the country fried oysters with your dinner selection. the appetizers on the menu, something I will consider for next time. It would also give you leeway to try other items, esp. If you had two light eaters, I think you could share that plate. Very well done and very generous with the portion. The lamb had a slightly smoky taste to it (almost reminded me of BBQ) that was different from what I had ever had ever tasted before. My friend had the lamb special with a side of scallops. It was very good, but I wished we each had ordered our own or asked for a small side of blue cheese dressing. I was slightly underwhelmed by them I think I was expecting something different and I did get one gritty oyster. We started with the Country Fried Oysters. Very perceptive and that quality was appreciated. We had lots to catch up on and the server didn't interrupt at critical times. The service is confident and prompt, letting you choose the pace of your dinner. Great place for a good conversation coupled with good food. Desserts were over-rich signature coconut cream pie and a cheesecake, Both had huge amounts of rich whipped cream guess I know why Texas is jostling for dubious "fattest state" status? In summary, everything was good, but not "must return to try something else" good, I thought it a little pricey, too. I kept scrunching to one side until my wife admonished me, and I realized why I felt so uncomfortable. We were seated next to the clear glass wall with a (for me) disquieting view of the foyer far below. The decor was dark with oddly cheap looking 20ft high wood-ish paneling on one side. We weren't bold enough to mention the oversight to our waitress, I suppose. Guess they ran out (we were late brunch reservations 2:45 pm) but we'd have ordered something else if we'd known, probably the tenderloin steak. Appetizers were OK, but not "Oh wow!" 2nd courses came and the (two) sea scallops were on the same "dirty rice" as the redfish I.e., no risotto or roasted garlic. Service was great, water glasses were promptly filled, and bread was warm, whole grain raisin, which was very good. We ordered a quail appetizer and an arugula salad (with balsamic vinaigrette and prosciutto) as appetizers and for 2nd course, redfish with dirty rice and green beans, plus sea scallops with basil risotto and roasted garlic. We got there and were promptly seated, taking the elevator to the 2nd floor dining area. Trip Advisor reviews were positive, so made reservations and was told menu was $38 prix fixe, and were a little disappointed that Silo's signature dish, "chicken fried oysters" was not among the choices. It was relatively close by (everything in San Antonio is about nine miles from everywhere else, it seems). We made reservations at Silo (Elevated) on Easter Sunday, after a quick internet search.
